    The Power of a Blazer

    Last updated 1 year ago

If you’ve ever worn a blazer, you know that it wields a special power. A well-fitted blazer not only grabs the attention of others, but also increases your confidence several times over.

In this short video from AskMen.com, suit expert Barry Newitt discusses the power of the blazer. A blazer, he says, is the ultimate symbol that the wearer has grown from a boy to a man. A blazer also has the advantage of complementing many other articles of clothing—from t-shirts and jeans to dress shirts and trousers.

At Warehouse Suit Sale, we have an incredible selection of sports coats and blazers, all at a discount price. We’re also proud to offer high-quality accessories, tuxedo rentals, and much more. Call us today at (310) 294-9715 and get one step closer to an elegant suit of your very own.

Everything You Need to Know About Pocket Squares

    Last updated 1 year ago

Men have carried handkerchiefs for a long, long time. In fact, perfumed handkerchiefs were a big hit in ancient Greece and Rome, and then again in Renaissance France and England. In those days, a handkerchief gave a gentleman a discreet way to blow his nose and protected him from unpleasant odors along the streets. Today, handkerchiefs are most often found in the breast pocket of men’s suits and are referred to as “pocket squares.” Here’s a brief look at pocket squares and why they’re necessary for men’s fashion:

Why is a pocket square necessary?

Today, the pocket square serves chiefly an aesthetic purpose. An elegant pocket square is great for completing the look of any suit—without a pocket square, a suit just doesn’t have the same flair. Also, a pocket square can help you change up your look if you only have a few suits in your closet.

What color should my pocket square be?

A pocket square should always be anchored by another color on your suit. For example, most men wear pocket squares that match one of their ties’ colors; although, matching the color exactly is not often recommended. When in doubt, it’s best to go with a white pocket square, since white goes with just about everything.

How should I fold my pocket square?

The trick behind folding a pocket square is to only allow a small part of the handkerchief to emerge from the pocket. As you can imagine, there are many ways to fold a pocket square, including the one-point, two-point, puff, and rolled puff styles. Various pocket square folds correspond to different levels of formality. You should feel free to play around with the various pocket square folds and see which one suits you the best.

A Man's Guide to Choosing Fragrances

    Last updated 1 year ago

Women aren’t the only ones who can smell nice every day! Since smelling good and being masculine are not mutually exclusive, more and more men are experimenting with fragrances to go with their dashing suits. Here’s a brief guide to choosing just the right colognes:

    • Determine Your Skin Type: Different skin types respond to cologne in different ways. For example, oily skin tends to amplify scents, while sensitive skin may be irritated by certain chemicals in a fragrance. Men with oily skin should select lighter colognes with floral or citrus tones, while men with dry skin should look at stronger, muskier colognes. If you have sensitive skin, explore colognes that have all-natural ingredients in place of synthetic chemicals.
    • Take Your Time: Selecting the perfect cologne should take at least as long as selecting an elegant suit; after all, the sense of smell is the most powerful of human senses and scents instantly evoke memories. When selecting cologne, you should pay attention to the three “notes.” The first note is your first impression of the cologne, which you smell immediately after the sales clerk gives you a sample. 15 minutes later, you should smell the sample again in order to get a sense of the middle note. If the scent is still pleasant after the third note, which occurs an hour after initial application, you may have found the cologne for you.
    • Ask Another’s Opinion: If you don’t trust yourself to make a good decision, always ask for a second opinion. If you don’t have a significant other, you can always ask the sales clerk or a close friend whose judgment you trust. Though you’ll be the one wearing the cologne, you probably won’t notice the scent as well as others.

If you’re having trouble finding the perfect cologne, come by Warehouse Suit Sale. In addition cologne, we have one of the Los Angeles area’s finest selections of discount suits and accessories.
